Mayor Dorothy Thornhill awarded an MBE

Elected Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill has been awarded an MBE for services to Watford and leadership in local government in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list announced on Saturday.
•Dorothy was the first elected mayor for Watford.
•Since 2002 Dorothy has won three Mayoral elections with overwhelming majorities.
•She is the first female elected mayor in the country.
•Transformed leadership of Watford Borough Council: the independent Audit Commission highlighted the ‘strong council leadership provided by the Directly Elected Mayor’
•Previously served as Oxhey ward councillor for over ten years
•Former assistant head teacher at Watford's Queens School.
